The Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) is an international organization established to follow developments in the field of space technologies, to provide a forum for knowledge-sharing, and provide training. APSCO headquartered in Beijing was inaugurated in 2008 as an inter-governmental organization.
APSCO provides a cooperative mechanism for developing countries in the region to be able to mainstream peaceful use of space as a driver of development. In order to strengthen the cooperation of its members that are geographically separated, APSCO provides coordination mechanisms such as Data Sharing Network, Space Segment Network and Interconnection of Ground Systems, Ground-Based Space Object Observation (APOSOS) Network, Disaster Monitoring Network, Space Application Network and Education and Training Centre/ Network.
Turkey is one of the nine founding members of the organization along with Bangladesh, China, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand and Indonesia. Turkey has signed the accession treaty on June 1st, 2006. APSCO convention was deposited in the UN in accordance with Article 102 of the Charter of the United Nations. Mexico became an observer state in 2015. Egypt was accepted as a reserve member in 2016.
